Running Walking Club (Grades 1-3)
Aurora Canada 150 Participation Challenge
This year we will be doing something different for Walking-Running Club to coincide with Canada's 150th birthday. Students will be able to attend without permission forms, as we will not be leaving the school grounds. We will alternate between grade 1 students and grade 2/3 students on Wednesdays at lunch recess. We share the gym with grade four running club so we have access to the gym every second Wednesday. (Example: Oct. 4 - grade 1 and October 18 - grade 2/3). Announcements will be made in school to remind students. Every time they attend, they will earn a house league ticket. Our first day will be Wed., Oct. 4th.
The challenge this year will be to bring a picture of themselves (and family if wanted) participating in some type of physical activity. We would only like each child to submit one picture of themselves. If there are siblings participating, each child can bring a picture. We hope to have 150 pictures on our bulletin board.
Check out the Participation 150 Play List for suggestions for activities. See how many activities you can do this year as a personal challenge. For fun you may highlight them as they are completed. There is no school prize for completing the most activities. Your prize is your pride in challenging yourself to do as many as you can and fitness for life.
